JANESVILLE — Medical Isotope manufacturer SHINE Technologies of Janesville notified the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development Tuesday that they plan to lay off 59 employees.
Affected employees were notified Tuesday, with no additional dates scheduled at this time, and the affected employees will be laid off on a permanent basis.

In its letter to the state, SHINE said it has been seeking additional investment in its business and facilities.
But due to cash flow issues because of the investment market and other factors, SHINE said it must take immediate action to reduce its workforce.
In a recent presentation to the Janesville City Council, SHINE founder and CEO Greg Piefer said that in addition to its longterm plan to pursue production of Molybdenum-99, SHINE is pursing new fusion technology.
