JANESVILLE — A Janesville sandwich shop received an unexpected gift Tuesday, a day after they discovered 12 patio umbrellas had been stolen.

Luke’s Deli, off Milton Avenue on Janesville’s east side, thanked customer Angie Bray and her husband in a social media post for dropping off replacement umbrellas courtesy of Pepsi.

The original umbrellas, stolen over the weekend, were blue with Pepsi logos on the edges.

The post announcing the good news gained more than 600 reactions in the first two hours after going up Tuesday morning.

The restaurant first posted about the thefts Monday.

“Stealing from our small business hurts,” they wrote. “Our side patio is still shaded. Hope to see you soon.”

Outdoor dining exploded during the pandemic, and many Janesville restaurants have continued to upgrade their outdoor dining facilities

The restaurant has been a fixture for the past 17 years at the corner of Mt. Zion and Milton Avenue on Janesville’s east side.

They feature fresh food made quickly while you wait, including a large menu of sandwiches, soups and salads.
