the Diversity Action Team of Rock County and YWCA Rock County is dedicating its Courageous Conversation to celebrating moments in queer history

JANESVILLE — This Pride month, the Diversity Action Team of Rock County and YWCA Rock County is dedicating its Courageous Conversation to celebrating moments in queer history that sparked activism and progress toward equality.

Courageous Conversations is a monthly racial justice discussion held virtually over Zoom. This month’s program begins at 7 p.m. Monday, June 26, 2023.

Black and brown LGBTQ people experience an intersection of marginalization that can result in violence, discrimination and oppression toward them with respect to income, employment, housing, education, political representation, access to health care and other public and private services.

To register for the discussion (newly each month), please go to:

You’ll need to answer a few demographic questions for the group’s funders.

An unmoderated 30 minutes will begin at 7 pm.  (We’re calling it The Parking Lot).

Agreements for Courageous Conversations are:

1) stay engaged, 2) experience discomfort, 3) speak your truth, and 4) expect and accept non-closure
