JANESVILLE — A popular Chicago style hot dog vendor in Janesville had his sign stolen earlier this week and he’s asking the public to help him get it back.

John Toles of JD’s Lunchbox says the sign was last seen sometime Wednesday night near Hammy’s Tavern on Center Avenue on Janesville’s south side.

He didn’t notice it was gone until Thursday and plans to file a police report.

Toles said the vendor no longer makes that style of sign, and he needs it for his business.

“It’s very important to me,” he said.

One person commented on his post in the Janesville Community Page Facebook group that they’d be willing to donate to a new sign.

Toles sells a variety of hot dogs from his cart around Janesville.

He’ll have his cart at Center Avenue and Delavan Drive beginning at noon Friday. On Saturday, he’ll be at an event at the Rock County Fairgrounds.

Then, on April 1, he’ll be back in his usual spot at the winter farmer’s market at the Uptown Janesville Mall.

If you see the sign, text Toles at 608-490-6850.
