JANESVILLE — A Janesville police officer who responded to a report last February of a stray cat has now taken in the feline permanently.

The Janesville Police Department posted a humorous update Thursday about the “cat burglar.”

After checking for a chip and finding none, Officer Michael Feirn, who was first on scene in the original incident, took in the cat now known as Maple. (Maple was named for the tree she was found under.)

“Maple can’t wait for Officer Feirn to come home from his shift and will immediately climb up on his shoulder, which turns out to be her favorite place to take a catnap,” read the post on Facebook.
