JANESVILLE — Gracie Karpes, a Girl Scout with Girl Scouts of Wisconsin – Badgerland Council, has been named the 2023 Entrepreneur of the Year by Forward Janesville.
They surprised Karpes this week with the award just as she was helping to unload a giant truck full of Girl Scout cookies, according to a social media post.
Photos showed huge pallets of cookies being delivered to her home.
The timing of the award announcement coincides with the beginning Sunday of in-person cookie sales throughout the council.
Karpes is no stranger to the business, she was the top cookie seller last year in Wisconsin.
The 2021 season was her seventh of selling cookies and at the time, she’d never been the top seller in the Girl Scouts of Wisconsin Badgerland Council or the state.
She’s since turned that around in a big way.
Karpes will be honored at the 22nd Annual Award Luncheon beginning at 11 a.m., April 5, 2023 at Glen Erin Golf Course.
