JANESVILLE — Janesville police say a Rockford double-homicide suspect is in custody following a covert surveillance operation.

Shyron S. Henderson, 26, is now being held in the Rock County Jail awaiting extradition to Illinois.

The Janesville Police Department in a news release said they received information Wednesday that a suspect of a double homicide in Rockford was in Janesville.

Then on Thursday, several places associated with Henderson were identified.

Covert surveillance was conducted, and officers say they positively identified Henderson.

Surveillance continued until Henderson got into a vehicle alone. His vehicle was blocked in by a marked police car and several officers conducted a high-risk stop.

Henderson was taken into custody without incident and turned over to Rockford detectives for interviews.

Henderson is one of four Rockford men charged with murder in connection with a deadly shooting at a Rockford park last summer, according to WIFR TV.

Two men, a 27-year-old and a 28-year-old, were killed in the shooting at Sinnissippi Park on July 23, 2022. Two others were also hurt in the shooting.
